About

Hi there. I'm Virginia. I'm a bilingual radio producer, writer, and freelance reporter telling stories in English, Spanish, and everything in between. I got started in radio conducting interviews all over the U.S. with StoryCorps , and their Historias Initiative. Later, I wrote grants and created community engagement strategies for a homeless shelter. I also worked interviewing and interpreting for unaccompanied minors in immigration detention. What tied these experiences together, was a relentless curiosity,  an interest in people and their individual experiences, and a knack for intense, engaged listening, all of which I brought back to radio. I’ve done work for NPR’s Latino USA, CityLab’s Technopolis , StoryCorps, This American Life, among others. I graduated from Amherst College in 2008, and trained in radio at Transom.
